Don't over crowd your area- spacing 3. when you group stuff together make sure the following group correlates to the previous idea 4. be aware of your color choices- contrast vs. complement 5. Don't give everything away at the start 6. when zooming don't have everything super spread apart - it might make people sick 7. use the uploading feature for media to engage your audience 8. if you are making a prezi from a powerpoint use the main ideas but don't always upload the slides. 9. be creative when using prezi, use your imagination 10. have there be a set format and an overlaying theme.

Ten Teaching Tips For Power Point

1. Do not use to much text
2. Use the 6X6 rule involving how much text you use on the slide
3. Do not over decorate with pictures
4. Don't over animate
5. Don't just read off of the PowerPoint
6. Don't have a bajillion slides
7. Have a theme for the entire presentation
8. Use enticing colors
9. Add videos to the presentation
10. Use readable font, but have fun with it

3. Names of teachers talked with whose classrooms you visited and grade level:

            Ms. Jennings- 2^nd grade

4. Ask the teachers/principal their perspective on current and future use of technology in the classroom: she believes that technology is very important to the classroom, and that if she can bring in any outside source of technology she is going to.

5. Does the school have its own website? If so who maintains the site what is the URL? Yes, the school has a website and the technology committee of the school maintains the website http://uintah.slcschools.org/

6. Do teachers at the school have class blogs? If so who has access to them? She said that some of the teachers have Facebook pages that the kids can use as a resource to ask their questions. Or they use the uen blog site. The children have access to them as they need it but it’s mostly the upper grades.

7. Is there a school technology supervisor?     Name? the school doesn’t have one specific supervisor, but they use the school tech committee to check on the computers and every Thursday they have someone from the district come down and check to make sure that if there were problems that they were fixed.

8. Do all the classrooms have computers in them?         Explain what you find: all of the classrooms have at least 2-3 computers in them but the classroom we visited had six computers because the teacher was one of the forerunners of using technology in the school.

9. Is there a computer lab/s?                If so how is it used and by whom? Yes, there were two computer labs, one on the main level and one in the library. It is used by the students and is used once a week per classroom. In the library computer lab there were about 30 computers.

10. What kinds of computers are in the school – PC’s, Laptops, Mac’s etc.? Overhead projection equipment etc.: there are PC’s and the overhead equipment that is used was mostly smart boards.

11. What software programs are regularly used by teachers? Most of them use things like word work or word

12. Can/do teachers use the Internet in their instruction?          Detail findings. Yes, the teachers use the internet in their instruction, especially the teacher we talked to she believed that using the internet was crucial to the students learning.

13. How does a teacher get further training to use technology? There is a technology committee at the school that teachers can take advantage of

14. See if you can get a sense of the % of students who might have a computer in their home: about 95% of the students have access to a working computer at home.

15. Did you observe students using computer based technology?        If so detail what you observed: I only observed in passing students using technology, but it looked like they were using programs to help with math and reading

16. Other: the higher grade level classrooms had a two to one ratio of child to computer and in the classrooms the computers were at their desks.

8. Make sure the pictures you use tie in to the interests of the students to keep them engaged
